My paintings are reconstructed landscapes. Each work documents an internal conversation about a moment in my life. I avoid direct confrontation of the memory by using abstract elements instead of literal ones. The goal is to create an image that embodies the essence of the memory. This can take a while to achieve; tweaking colors and shapes over and over again. Each painted layer reveals new colors and shapes while hiding previous ones to refine the emotion and tone it conveys. This method of working mirrors my own internal processes to overcome, understand or reflect upon my experiences.
